El proceso es simple, las discográficas se meten en las redes de P2P y sacan la IP (algo así como el rut del computador en internet) de alguien que esté bajando ese archivo. O sea, se ponen a bajar el contenido “pirata” y acusan a quienes están compartiendo ese archivo. Luego mandan esa IP a los ISP para que ellos manden una carta al usuario pidiéndole (depende de la compañía el tono que usan) que deje de bajar contenido con copyright.
Pero relajate. Para empezar, eso no puede ser usado como evidencia en las cortes. Y lo más importante, eso sucede principalmente en Inglaterra y Estados Unidos. Acá en sudamerica eso jamás ha pasado, y más encima, eso sólo prueba que alguien usó esa IP para bajar algo, pero no indica una persona en particular.

Todo lo anterior es para atacar al usuario que disfruta bajando torrents, pero ¿qué pasa con el sistema más usado para compartir archivos, como los son Rapidshare y Megaupload? Los sitios que publican links a Rapidshare por nombrar alguno, no incurren en ninguna falta porque esos links no contienen nada pirata en sí y sus servidores no manejan las conexiones entre los usuarios. Pues bien, las compañías defensoras de los derechos de autor han optado por amenazar a los administradores de tales sitios para que bajen los links.
Un buen y reciente ejemplo es lo que pasó con Franz Ferdinand. La banda está a punto de sacar su nuevo disco, pero como ha pasado últimamente, éste se filtró antes de su lanzamiento. Los escoceses habían declarado hace un tiempo que ellos suelen bajar música y también les pidieron a sus fans que compartieran sus canciones nuevas por Limewire. Un sitio puso los links a Rapidshare para bajar el nuevo disco, pero los administradores del sitio recibieron una carta de una compañía llamada Web-Sheriff en la que les pedían que removieran el contenido de su sitio y que además pidieran disculpas. Obviamente, el administrador del sitio los mandó a freír monos, pero los sheriffs de la web se pusieron en contacto con el servidor donde estaba alojado el sitio y pidió que lo dieran de baja. El hosting no dió ninguna explicación y bajó el sitio.
Estas técnicas ya se están poniendo en práctica en países del primer mundo. Es cosa de tiempo para ver si esta será una de las tantas cosas que se importan.
